INDECOPI launches its online trademark search engine

INDECOPI, Peru’s Intellectual Property Office, launched on September 3rd “Quipu”, its brand-new online trademark search engine. The use of this new tool is free of charge.

Before the launch of Quipu trademark searches – also commonly called availability searches – in Peru had to be done physically in the INDECOPI’s offices and were subject to a fee.

This new service is part of the digitalization strategy of INDECOPI. The modernization of the trademark search procedure in Peru is to be welcomed, as that this procedure should always be carried out before registering a trademark application in order to check for the availability of the sign.

For more information, please be referred to INDECOPI’s communication on this new tool.
