Trademarks are signs used to distinguish the origin of products and services while a company name is the name of a legal person, both are used in the marketplace and are frecuently confused.

It is quite common that companies use their company name as trademark, in such cases it is strongly advised to register the company name as a trademark in order to benefit from the wider scope of protection that trademarks registration offer.
